Construction Project Manager, Data Center Projects

  • Hybrid
    • Ashburn, Virginia, United States

Job description

WHO WE ARE

Derrig & Talbot is a fast growing, privately owned construction and project management company. We've been building in Montréal since 2015 and recently opened our Virginia office.

Our core expertise is data centers, along with industrial, healthcare and commercial work. We've delivered new builds, building additions and highly complex interior fit outs for some of the biggest names in the data center space. Our culture is built on personalized service, direct communication and close collaboration.

THE ROLE

We're looking for an experienced Construction Project Manager to run the construction of our data center projects in Virginia. This is a general contractor role on the build side: you'll manage construction projects inside data center facilities, not IT or data center operations.

This is a ground floor opportunity. You'll be one of the first people on the ground in our US operation, working closely with ownership and our Montréal team, which has years of data center delivery behind it. For the right person, this role has a clear path to Branch Director as the Virginia office grows.

You'll be responsible for planning, organizing, leading and controlling every phase of your projects while meeting budgets, schedules, contract requirements and the high standards our clients expect.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

• Manage the day to day of construction projects (quality, cost, schedule)

• Coordinate internal teams, subcontractors and outside partners

• Build project schedules and keep them up to date

• Prepare and manage field directives, RFIs and shop drawings

• Coordinate deliveries, technical approvals and subcontractor submittals

• Process change orders and prepare revised pricing

• Keep a tight handle on budgets and progress on every job

• Keep proactive, clear communication with clients and all stakeholders

• Help build relationships with local subcontractors and suppliers as we grow our Virginia network

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

• Degree in construction management, architecture, engineering or a related field (or equivalent experience)

• 3 to 5+ years managing commercial or industrial construction projects

• Electrical or MEP project experience is a major asset

• Data center or mission critical experience is a strong asset

• Solid knowledge of the full construction project lifecycle

• Established network of subcontractors in Northern Virginia is a plus

• Strong organization, planning and time management skills

• Entrepreneurial mindset and comfortable working in a growing office with a lot of autonomy

WHAT WE OFFER

• Competitive compensation based on experience

• Paid time off

• Real growth path into a leadership role

• Backing of an established company with a proven data center track record
